Nevada DECA Attends ICDC 2011 in Orlando, FL

2011 ICDC: Orlando, FL

Capping off a highly successful 50th anniversary year, over 200 Nevada DECA members descended on Orlando, Florida on April 29 – May 4, 2011 for the biggest event in the DECA year, the International Career Development Conference.  Those 200 members represent the largest ICDC delegation ever for Nevada DECA.  Seven students were awarded medals on-stage for their stellar performances, including Stephan Kim from Davidson Academy who was recognized for earning Seventh Place in the Principles of Finance event.

Nevada DECA 2008-09 State Treasurer Named Nevada’s Savviest on Finance

Izack Tenorio, a junior in Clark High School’s Academy of Finance, understands the roots of the nation’s economic crisis, its effect on world markets and the potential risks of the government’s bailout and recovery plans.

Tenorio is arguably the most financially literate high school student in Nevada. He won a statewide competition that tested his knowledge of business and economics and will represent Nevada at the national championships for the event sponsored by DECA, an association of marketing students. 175 Nevada DECA representatives attended the 2008 International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia from April 25th - April 30th. Among the many exciting events and opportunities that our members took part in we congratulate our finalists for their outstanding accomplishments in competition. Congratulations to Annie Huynh from Valley High School who was a finalist in Apparel & Accessories Marketing, Zach Ipson from Legacy High School who was a finalist in Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Omgema Mabior from Del Sol High School for her Third Place finish in Hospitality & Recreation Research, and Janet Tran & Anna Guiao from Spring Valley High School for their Third Place finish in The Stock Market Game!


State Officers Attend WROTC 2007 in Flagstaff, Arizona

The Nevada DECA State Officer team attended the Western Region Officer Training Camp held in Flagstaff, Arizona on July 9-11. State and chapter officers from all around the Western Region as well as Michigan and Canada were in attendance at this exciting officer training. Participants were able to receive top notch training in chapter and state development, personal leadership, and goal setting; all while participating in both high and low ropes courses. Other fun activities included an afternoon at slide rock in beautiful Sedona, Arizona as well as campus tours around Northern Arizona University. Not only was this trip a lot of fun, but the state officers gained skills and information that they look forward to sharing with Nevada DECA Chapters this year!

Among the many exciting events and opportunities that our members took part in we congratulate our finalists for their outstanding accomplishments in competition. Congratulations to Gabriela Dineva from Clark High School who was a finalist in Entrepreneurship Written, Nathifa Charles and Huma Khan from Mojave High School who were finalists in Business Law & Ethics Management Team Decision Making, and Rhea Conlu for her Top Ten test score in Travel & Tourism Marketing Management Team Decision Making.

Troy Mcclain Speaks at SCDC 2006!

Troy McClain from NBC's hit television show The Apprentice was a special guest speaker to marketing, management, and entrepreneurship high school students from across the state during the Nevada DECA State Career Development Conference. This exciting event was held at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas, March 6-7. A true entrepreneur, Troy McClain has surpassed all odds and achieved phenomenal success.
